When will I see you again?

Well I am up for it , I am so looking forward to a good talk about writing. Julie continues to plan a writers retreat in the south of France. and My personal Blogs have stalled. Its good to have a retreat for a while and nurture the soul. The barn is the place to be.

Are we uncommitted and facing illiteracy? Come on Yarners

It's time .. I mean it's really time to re-group ... and develop a pulse ... get the groove back ... come on up to the barn soon ...

Amberly Airbase

Our task is to write a paragraph which will include Amberly Airbase and the word "bitch" used as a verb.

Amber stood hesitating, reluctant, before the screen door. Beyond she could see the blackened fields, scorched and smoking. Harsh eddies of soot whirled across the dead earth. She stood, quietly relishing the last cool blast of air on the base of her neck. Two years ago they had moved on to the farm, Mr and Mrs Nicholas Leigh, full of hopes and dreams. Two days ago the fire had swept all their work away. In the distance she watched Nick gouging out a trench in the hill. Cowed in the corner of the paddock, blackened sheep shivered and bleated. Her hand grasped the .22 tightly as she filled pockets with cartridges.
"A bitch day" muttered Amber Leigh as she kicked open the door and strode into the morning's work.

Novel ideas

Hi again and I had an amazing day with Nerida Newton yesterday - of course, it's all State secrets but we learned a lot about research and resources. I had to leave mid afternoon to get back before dark - the 'roos and being night blind make me somewhat of a menace on the bitumen after dark. I've cobbled together about 10,000 words from my journals and various travels which will have kickstarted the novel. No time like the present ... can't wait til we're in the barn again. See you all soon

Barn Yarning kicks off ...

The inaugural get-together of Barn Yarning kicked off on Saturday 28 February. Four writers began stalking their novels. We played with words, sentences and ideas, listened and laughed til it really did hurt. All too soon it was time to leave the bleeding, the parting of grasses, big bastard and poppa ... until next time. Last night I shared my room with Ms Virginia (thanks for that, I'll treasure it always).

Thanks for all the support, encouragement and ... just turning up.
Til next post
